meet you at the red light

it’s nights like tonight when i wish that i could meet you at the red light. you would think i’d write about a green light because green means “go” or “correct.” however, when i think of you, i think of red. when it comes to you, time is not a real concept. when i am with you and the light turns red, i know i will get a kiss. i know i will get the chance to stare into your maroon-tinted eyes and smile. green means go, so i like the red lights better. a red light stops everything for a few seconds. when i see red, i’m at peace. when i’m with you, i’m at peace. meet me at the red light and make all of my problems disappear. meet me at the red light where i know i am safe for at least thirty seconds.
